Apple Pie

A few days ago, Meredith came down with something.
Lucas asked "Why is Mere not feeling well?"
I told him because she was sick (that is the best I could come up with).
Lucas responded with "She needs more apples!"

Oh, how I adore my children. They really do listen when they want to.

I have been wanting to make an apple pie for over a week now, but finally MADE the time to do so. I have never done it before, so I admit I was nervous. I made my own crust, let it chill in the fridge and then stirred together the pie later in the evening.

Richard wanted to take photos for proof of my hardwork. Yes, I know, I have flour on my shirt. But I just finished ellipticalling (and asked for no headshots), and I wasn't about to get an apron all smelly.

The pie happily baked and warmed the house, while we got the kids ready for bed.
The pie was so beautiful when pulled out of the oven. And it smelled AMAZING!

Do you like my weaving action? Pretty good for an amateur!

I pledged to never use another store bought pie crust. Typically, the crust is what is ho-hum of the pie, but this was truly the best pie crust I have ever eaten.
But I guess you can't go wrong with a stick and a half of butter!
If you want the recipe, please contact me directly.

I am very impressed with the weaving! How in the world did you do that! You are an excellent cook and baker, I can never let Pete on your blog and see all of your goodies. I fear he may realize how inept his wife is :)
