Halloween!

We dressed the babies in their costumes for the second round of trick-or-treating.....
I got a quick photo or two before we took off...

Richard wanted to go check out Toys R Us and their Halloween thing.
Lucas got to meet Geffory - Meredith was freaked out by him and sticked close by.

He then wanted us to go to the downtown area for trick-treating. The area was not as much fun for the kids, as not every store was doing trick-or-treating - so further to walk....different types of people, ect...the kids also got a lot of candy that they cannot eat....

Taking a candy break
Hmm what else is in here?

The crowds of people

After we ate dinner, we headed back home to a nearby church for trunk-or-treating.
They had a great time walking around....

and playing in the antique cars...

Mere and Mommy

They were also making cotton candy and popcorn....Lucas decided he wanted the cotton candy.

Monkey see, Monkey do...

And no, she didn't eat all of this! Richard and I took a bite or two as well!

Meredith didn't even make it the five minute car ride home. She was zonked. I had never been more exhausted and was in bed by 10 - that is without the clocks falling back.

Halloween on the Lawn

On Friday, we packed up and met Daddy at the Law School for a small trick or treating event there.

Here is my Lucas Shark
(his favorite part from Nemo - which he picked because sharks are scary!)

And my Fairy Princess Mere
who is very much a girl, and LOVES to dress up.

Meredith kept stopping to blow her nose

The shark spotted the waters....

Facepainting!
After staying way too long, we hopped on the bus to ride to the other side of campus to the...
UVA Lawn.
This photo is only one angle.
This area was huge.
This area was AMAZING. The kids trick-or-treated at the dorms of graduate students living on campus. Candy, go two steps, more candy. They LOVED seeing the students dressed up, the other kids running around in costumes....
The type of people there was very stereotypical of the area, which was wonderful to be around as well.
We didn't even make it a quarter of the way around before they were tired and their buckets were half-full.
They also discovered suckers, which Meredith fell in LOVE with.
Richard took a photo of us right before we were ready to head back to the car for dinner.

Fall Photo Shoot

I tried my hardest to get the perfect photo of my babies together. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get two babies to cooperate together. These are my best shots!

Ice Skating Nemo?!

On Thursday, we went to see a Disney on Ice showing at UVA. I have never been to a show like this, and Nemo was AMAZING. The babies were interested for the entire show, and Lucas declared he wanted to see it again!

Lucas held his ticket the entire show! He was sooo excited for the whole event.

New Addition

We recently purchased a new addition to our property. Do you notice anything different??

After much deliberation on building a garage, we decided to save $30K (which we wouldn't see the return on - thank you economy!) and get a....

Lovely!
Now we can actually clear off the front porch, clean out our junk closet in the living room, and store our kids outdoor toys!
We need to put some lattice around the bottom and make a ramp/steps....but give us a break! We just got the shed two days ago!

Donuts by Devon

I attempted something that has never been done in the Connaroe kitchen....Donuts.
Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure.

I learned several things from this experience:
1. I do not enjoy frying things. I have battle scars to prove it.
2. I really do not enjoy frying things. It makes a huge, huge mess.
3. I really, really do not enjoy frying things. I am not able to determine proper doneness.
The donuts were ready in a flash. Some are quite overdone. I tried to adjust for this, and those ended up a little gooey inside. Only a few came out perfectly.
By the time I got to the donut holes, things seemed to work out a little better for me.
For the time and energy I put into making these, I could have driven to DD and back AT LEAST 10 times.
Granted, these were cake-like and apple cider flavored....but bloody hell, it was a lot of work for something that didn't taste that special.
Don't think I am a wimp. There are many things I will work overtime for.....
So if you are good at making donuts, please let me know your secret!
