Lucas Turns 3!

Three years ago, Lucas joined us in the world. He was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. And although I still believe he is beautiful, I am not allowed to say it. Since he is a boy after all....

We had anticipated celebrating his birthday the weekend prior, but the snow kept us in the house. And after much debating, we decided to just tell him it was his birthday on his birthday.

He had been longing for a party with birthday hats, balloons, and horns....And that is what we gave him!

He woke up to see the goods waiting for him! He immediately put on a party hat and started blowing away...

He refused to smile for a photo!

After all the commotion winded down, we changed out of jammies and got busy making a cake.
I dropped the ball the night before, but sometimes, other things are more important.
Like spending an hour in the grocery store, just to enjoy the quiet, stress free life existing outside my home.
Anyways, the kids enjoyed taking part in the traditional licking of the bowl....
Later in the day, we received a special delivery from Grammy!

The dinosaur cake that Lucas wanted is pretty sad looking.
I am actually quite embarrassed to even post it...
But we already know I will never be on Ace of Cakes...
Next year, I am doing what Lucas wants. A sheet cake with toy dinosaurs all over it.
We had to convince him not to do that this year, and kept them around the sides.

Blowing out the candles!

Getting a little help from Mere!
(Forgive me for the shrinking photos! I didn't realize until after the fact, and didn't want to upload AGAIN).
Happy Birthday!
Time for his birthday present!
Meredith figured out how to blow the horn!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Lucas. And for the record, I think your cakes looks great, especially considering you were designing/carving it out freehand.

It looks like you guys had a wonderful day celebrating Lucas's 3rd birthday. I think the dinosaur cake turned out pretty well considering you did it all by yourself, and I doubt there were any complaints as it was being eaten. ;)

The cakes is great! But I am a big fan of sheet cakes and icing with sprinkles. I wish I had remembered to hand off some dinosaur candles that I had. Sigh..........
