We have the same battle every time I get the swiffer out!
You should get a swiffer sweeper vac if you don't already have one. I'm not sure how it will help with the kids or not...but I love it for cleaning my hardwood floors. My only complaint is that it needs to be charged more often than I think it should...otherwise, it's awesome.
